WRAS Album-88 Appeal

At the end of last week, the students at WRAS Album 88 filed an appeal with the University System of Georgia Board of Regents, on the grounds that the GSU administration circumvented policies controlling the apportioning of student fees and violated the Student Activity Fee Council process set out by the university and mandated by the Board of Regents.

In short, in an attempt to implement the radio agreement with GPB in secret, GSU administrators knowingly misled students that oversee student funds in order to purchase a new transmitter and approve an operating budget. Further, by implementing the radio agreement with GPB, GSU knowingly misappropriated student funds, giving the benefit of student dollars budgeted for a student-run station to an outside organization, GPB. These are clear violations of the University System of Georgia policies.

This is a very strong appeal which points out that Georgia State did not follow university policy with regard to student funds. We have posted a link to the full appeal here: http://bit.ly/1GLp3dN. Students expect to hear from the Board of Regents within 30 days. In the meantime, please stay tuned in on how you can help students #SaveWRAS. We will post updates and calls-to-action as the process unfolds. Thanks for all of your support for college radio in Atlanta.
